Hiding Inactive Client Completed

stephen.silva

We would like to be able to hide inactive clients without losing the ability to run reports for them in the future.  Thinking this could be easily done similar to how “retiring” a miner now works.  The client would be removed or hidden from the drop down tab at the top left corner of the Foreman screen.

    Hi Stephen,

We are thinking about working on this request and have some thoughts.

    • Customers would need to remove any miners associated before they could make a client inactive
    • Any pickaxe on the site would need to be deleted before client can be made inactive
    • All triggers/alerts/scheduled reports would be disabled after client is made inactive
    • Only historical reports would be allowed for the customer
    • Any user who is only associated to the inactive client would be able to login but no longer has access to the inactive client.
    • Inactive clients would no longer show up in the dropdown but would be accessible by the new table for active/inactive clients in the My Group page.

Does this fit with what you're thinking or is there anything that we are missing?

    Thanks!

yep I like this idea too. the only reasonable workaround is renaming it z"theoldname" so it appears last on the list

Thanks, Stephen for sharing this idea. From a UX perspective, where would you expect to go to see your inactive clients to access reports, etc.?

Would be nice to have it at the bottom of the clients list.  Like a header that says inactive and then the clients listed underneath.

    Tim,

That is exactly what we are looking for.  That would be fantastic.  Thanks!
