Keeping your inventory organized and up to date is key to smooth operations, and Foreman makes it easy to manage your assets from one central place. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to add a new inventory item and set up low inventory notifications, so you’re always in the loop when stock runs low. Whether you're setting things up for the first time or just need a quick walkthrough, you're in the right place!
Note: The inventory type field needs to be inputted on the Inventory settings page before adding an item on the inventory page. Follow this article for a guide on how to set up the inventory types.
- Start by clicking on Operations from the left-hand navigation menu, then select Inventory.
-
Click the Add Item button at the top of the inventory table.
-
A pop-up modal will appear where you can input details to add new inventory items. Fill out the following fields on this form:
- Name - name this specific piece of inventory, must be unique.
- Type - single select, this is a drop-down field based on your company's inventory types set in settings.
- Quantity - the total supply you have in stock for the inventory part you are adding.
- Notification Amount – the minimum quantity of this part you want in stock before triggering a low inventory notification.
- Client - single select, this is a drop-down of available clients to you.
- Location - this is the location where the part is located.
- Remaining fields are optional and can be edited or updated at a later time.
- To finalize, click Save - this will save the new part, and it will now show on the inventory page.
-
Depending on your permission level, you can click on the person icon in the upper right-hand corner of Foreman, then select the Settings option from the drop-down menu.
-
Click Inventory - this card is located within the settings page and will take you to the inventory-related settings.
-
Navigate to the Low Inventory Notification Emails section to add or remove emails that will receive the low inventory notifications. Emails included will be notified once the quantity of the part reaches the threshold number (refer to the notification amount you input in the original form, step 3 above). The purpose of the notification is to let you know that the part has reached its threshold, and you should restock the item.
- Click Save at the bottom of the inventory settings page. This will save any changes you have made to the low inventory section of the inventory settings page. You have now successfully set up a low inventory notification for a newly created inventory item
