Welcome To The Foreman Knowledge Base

How To: Upload Inventory

Foreman makes it easy to upload inventory in partial or bulk using a CSV file. Whether you're adding new items or updating existing ones, the Upload Inventory tool streamlines the process for efficient inventory management.

This guide covers both upload options, explains the difference between full and partial uploads, and walks you through each step—from choosing your file to completing the upload.

  • Click Inventory, then Upload Inventory

  • From this modal, you have the ability to download a CSV of your current inventory. If none is present, the download will include the headers needed for a successful upload.

    • Uploads require a Name and a Type for each piece of inventory.
    • The type is relative to your client, and what Inventory types are present, the modal will show your valid type options.
      • The full article on how to use Inventory types can be found here.
  • There are two types of uploads:
    • Full: This will update, create, and delete items based on the uploaded .csv file.
    • Partial: This will only update or create, but will never delete the items not included in the .csv file.

  • Click Choose File, find the .csv file you created, click Open, and then click Upload.
