Feeding site meter data into Foreman enables your team to have more complete visibility into what’s happening at your site and enables features such as Setpoint Dispatches. Follow the steps below to integrate your on-site, Modbus-compatible site meter. If you don’t find your device type listed, contact us so we can discuss supporting your specific device.

1. Navigate to the Infrastructure tab and click Add Infrastructure.
    
2. From the modal, fill in the following information:
   1. Name - Name your infrastructure
   2. Type - Select: Meter - Modbus Meter
   3. Pickaxe - Select your Pickaxe
   4. IP Address - Add in IP Address
       
3. Click Add Command to open the command setup row, filling in the following information: -
   1. Type - Select: Get Site Telemetry
   2. Index – Reference number in Foreman identifying the Modbus index/address.
   3. Unit ID – The unit ID to interface with on the Modbus device.
   4. Variation – Defines the Modbus method to use to pull data from the specified index
   5. Mask – Bitmask applied to extract only the relevant portion of the register. To get all data from a single address, the mask is 0xFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF for two, etc
   6. Shift – Optional, Bit-shift applied to correctly position the data. Normally, this is just 0
   7. Multiplier – Scaling factor to convert the raw value into real-world units. Normally, site load is not in watts, so the multiplier should be set to ensure the value is in watts
   8. Register Count – Number of registers read to obtain the complete value.
   9. Data Type – Format for interpreting the data (e.g., Integer, Float).
       
4. Click Save to add your Modbus infrastructure.
5. Under the Actions menu for the newly created device, click on View Current Stats to confirm that the device is configured correctly. It may take a few minutes for the data to start populating.
6. Now that your setup is complete, reach out to Customer Support to enable this meter so it begins populating the Metered Site Load value.
